TEOCHEW BRAISED PORK BELLY

Serves 4-6
(Prep.time 40 mins)

Ingredients:

  • 500g of pork belly (cut into pieces)

  • 2 pieces of dried bean curd

  • 5 Hard-boiled eggs

  • 2 garlic

  • 1 ginger (cut into pieces)

  • Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, star anise

  • 2 tablespoon of premium light soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce

To make it:

  • Marinate the pork belly with premium light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Set aside.

  • Add ginger and garlic to hot oil then stir-fry till fragrant.

  • Add in cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and star anise. (Can adjust the quantities of the spices according to your preference)

  • After that, add in pork belly then cover it with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to low heat and simmer with lid on for 30 minutes.

  • Add in dried bean curd and hard-boiled eggs simmer another 10 minutes. If you want the pork belly to be tenderer, continue to simmer a little longer. Serve hot, with rice.
