
HOME MADE CHAR SIEW

Ingredients:
500g of pork belly (skinned and cut into thick strips)
Gula Melaka (100g)
Marinate:
- 1 piece of garlic
- 4 tablespoon of light soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon of thick soy sauce
- 1 small piece of cinnamon stick
- 1 piece of star anise
To make it:
Using a fork to pork holes all over the pork belly. Marinate pork belly with Marinade for at least 4 hours.
To make sauce: In a saucepot, boiled the water. Add Gula Melaka, pork belly and leftover the Marinade. Cook over medium low heat for 30-45 minutes until the sauce is thick and sticky. After that, remove the pork belly and reserve the sauce for later use.
Heat up 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan, pan fry pork belly until the surface is slightly burnt.
Boiled the sauce and pour over pork belly.
Cool the pork belly before slicing.
